Ars Superstare is a fictional design project that explores the boundaries between superstition, technology, and design. The concept investigates how humanity might seek protection in a world where machines and technological advancement create phenomena that verge on the magical.

DESIGN INSIGHT
Ars Superstare is a "magical protection" system for the contemporary technological world, using sigils — symbols of protection adapted from magical methodologies. The result was the Sigil Alphabet, a visual language of protection against technological threats. This alphabet was tested across different media and devices, resulting in a series of experimental modules: The Prophet of Cathodic Rays (a short film inspired by Unix), The Sigil Mesh (generative design of patterns), The Responsive Mentor (which alters sigils via voice commands on an oscilloscope), and The Standard of Desire (a fabric flag with a monumental-scale sigil).
The project culminated in an immersive installation presented at the Café Tecnológico, a Lilo.Zone event, where visitors explored the superstitious system and shared their perceptions. Ars Superstare invites reflection on the relationship between man and machine, proposing a mystical perspective on the creation and propagation of symbols in the digital realm, where design and technology interact in an almost ritualistic experience.
Winner of the Emilie Chamie Award for Best Experimental Project of 2018.
